The Challenge

What needed solving

A deep bore water supply system was underperforming — high specific energy consumption, frequent pump maintenance callouts, and rising operational costs were placing strain on the operator. The system lacked telemetry, making fault diagnosis reactive rather than proactive. Water losses were occurring but unquantified.

Our Approach

How we solved it

JTECH conducted a full operational audit encompassing pump performance testing, energy analysis, and network water balance. Telemetry and SCADA was specified and installed to provide real-time visibility. Pump selection was reviewed and replacement pumps specified to match actual duty conditions. Maintenance schedules were rewritten around equipment condition data rather than calendar-based intervals.

The Outcome

What we delivered

Specific energy consumption reduced materially following pump optimisation. Unplanned maintenance callouts dropped as the new telemetry system enabled condition monitoring and early fault detection. The water balance identified and resolved previously unknown losses. The operator now manages the system proactively, with data to support future capital planning decisions.
