Cost outcome
Full-scale conventional treatment plant designed, built and commissioned to meet New Zealand's evolving water quality standards. Practical, affordable and fully compliant.
What needed solving
Tightening New Zealand drinking water standards required a community to upgrade its source water treatment to achieve reliable compliance. Existing infrastructure was at capacity and not upgradeable. The project required a fit-for-purpose solution that would meet current and foreseeable future standards without over-engineering the outcome — budget certainty was paramount.
How we solved it
JTECH led the full design-and-build contract, developing a conventional treatment process tailored to the source water quality profile. The design philosophy prioritised operational simplicity — minimising chemical dosing complexity and mechanical equipment that would require specialist maintenance. Community water supply was maintained throughout construction via temporary supply arrangements managed by JTECH.
What we delivered
The plant was commissioned on programme, within budget, and immediately achieved compliance with New Zealand Drinking Water Standards. Operational handover included comprehensive operator training and a full O&M manual suite. The client now has a future-proofed asset with a clear upgrade pathway should standards tighten further.
